The Doclounge listserv is a private email discussion group for medical doctors, residents and students to engage in spontaneous daily discussions with other colleagues direct to your email inbox.

Please note this is a private mailing list and confidentiality must be observed. Do not share conversations from the listserv with non-members without permission, and do not include other recipients in the copy field when sending email to the listserv.

The doclounge listserv has been active since 1997.

To join the doclounge listserv go to https://gaggle.email/join/doclounge@gaggle.email and complete the form and confirm you agree to treat all list mail as confidential. When your request has been reviewed you will be added to the listserv. After joining the listserv if you do not receive an email please check your spam folder and mark received email as not spam.

Rules

All subscribers are expected to follow the rules in this section.

  1. Participants are expected to be professional.

    All participants are expected to conduct themselves professionally, and engage in discussion that is civil and respectful.
     
  2. Participants are expected to preserve a harassment-free space.

    Doclounge is dedicated to ensuring the listserv remains a harassment-free space for everyone, regardless of sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, physical appearance, disability, age, race, citizenship, or religion. Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated, including discriminatory, defamatory, threatening, insulting, or otherwise disruptive or harmful behaviour.
     
  3. Participants are expected to avoid posting prohibited content.

    Prohibited content includes commercial content, copyrighted content, and spam.
     
  4. Participants are expected to observe confidentiality.

    The Doclounge listserv is private and confidentiality must be observed. Do not share conversations held within the mailing lists with non-members, or include other recipients in the copy field when sending email to the list.

Subscription

The Doclounge listserv is restricted to individuals that meet the criteria of being medical doctors (active or retired), and medical residents or medical students.

You may choose to leave the Doclounge listserv at any time.

You can unsubscribe from a list in one of two ways:

  1. Send an e-mail to list-admin@doclounge.net
  2. Unsubscribe by following the "Unsubscribe" link in the footer of any message sent via the listserv.

Content

The Doclounge listserv is for open discussion. Posters on the listserv are solely responsible for the content of their messages. The posts are not moderated and Doclounge and list administrators do not verify the accuracy of messages or endorse the opinions expressed by posters.

Reporting harassment

If a participant feels they are being harassed, they can submit a report to the administrator of the list. If you are not sure who the administrator is, check the main page for the list.

If an administrator receives a report, they will respond to the participant within one week, acknowledging the report and explaining what actions have been taken to address the issue.

Warnings & suspensions

If a participant posts a message that violates the rules, the administrator will issue the participant a warning that identifies the violation. If a participant fails to acknowledge the violation or repeatedly violates the rules, the administrator reserves the right to suspend the participant from posting or ban them from the list.

If a participant is suspected to have joined a list solely for the purpose of posting spam or other prohibited content, the administrator reserves the right to ban the participant without warning.

If a participant wishes to dispute a warning or suspension, they may contact the administrator for the list. Administrators will take requests into consideration, but ultimately have the discretion to make a final decision.
